The Pride

This would be shortly after Abebe, the youngest cub, was born.
Story time!

The pride gathered togetherto celebrate the birth of their newest member. The youngest cub for King Gamba and his queen Ghadah. Usama watched with wide eyes as his sister, Zenta walked past their mother, Yai, and the other lioness, Vuli, with her cubs, Ugaidi and Utulivu. He let out a small noise of distress as she disappeared from his view. Yai turned to her son and smiled, telling him not to fret his sister would be back soon. Kopa leaned over Vuli to look at her sons while listening to Daia talk about how excited she was for her new sister. Daia called to Zenta as she approached asking her if she wanted to see her new adorable baby sister. Zenta laughed at the younger lioness who'd been born shortly after her mother, Vuli, and herself and joined the pride though her eyes moved past her, the queen, the king, and even the infant to her best friend Ghadhanfar.
"Awwww Man," Ghadhanfar sighed looking from the small white lioness in his father's paws up to his mother, "Can you take her back and bring a boy? I don't want another sister."
"Brother's aren't nearly as great as you'd think," Dalal laughed as she walked past her brother.
"Hey," Gamba exclaimed glancing up at his sister. Najat cut him off before he could say anything else though scolding the young prince. Telling him that lioness were what the pride needed as she complained about the three adult lions and four young male cubs. Dabir rolled his eyes walking up to Yai and telling her how hypocritical the old lioness was.
What none of the pride noticed was the dark look on the previous king's widow's face. They didn't know her dark thoughts of hatred directed at the happy family. They didn't know she felt shorted after her mates death. That she felt betrayed because everyone else seemed to be having cubs. That she was filled with anger that the lion she wanted for her next mate was not interested in her. The pride missed the dark look melt into a malicious smile as she turned and walked away. She glanced over her shoulder at the lion she wanted. She was forming a plan. She would regain her spot as queen. He would help her, he didn't know it, but he would.
